Role Purpose

Assists the organization in its strategic initiatives by (i) assessing the financial viability of existing businesses’ key projects and NBD projects, (ii) complementing the NBD team in bringing the project to desired outcome, and (iii) conducting performance review of existing business portfolio and implementing portfolio rebalancing, if required, to accelerate the expansion of the Group.

Job Description

Financial/economic model for New Business Development projects, including valuation, investment returns, and effect on portfolio
Regulatory financial models for rate rebasing and tariff adjustment request

Prepares and reviews financial/economic model for projects being developed and acquired considering financial information and risks based on legal, financial, technical, and other due diligence reports; Prescribes acceptable tariff range for pursuing a particular project  considering target returns and strategic value; Prepares acceptable valuation range and other financial considerations for M&A and joint venture projects; Ensures consistency of negotiated contracts and technical assumptions with the financial model; Presents financial impact of New Business Development and tariff adjustment to the portfolio

Project-specific optimal capital structure
Computes and reviews the project-specific hurdle rates (WACC, cost of equity, or Appropriate Discount Rate, as applicable) to appropriately assess the financial feasibility of each of the NBD projects and rate rebasing exercises; Formulates the optimal capital structure considering the requirements of both potential lenders and shareholders, including required loan covenants, and return profile; Collaborates with the Treasury team in structuring the funding of the project

Optimal transaction structure in coordination with other professionals
Collaborates with internal and external legal, financial and tax teams to design the optimal transaction structure that will meet strategic and financial objectives while minimizing friction costs in the flow of cash

Periodic portfolio review of existing business units from financial perspective
Implements divestment decisions; Provides periodic portfolio review of business units (subsidiaries and divisions, as applicable) as to investment returns and elicits management commitments moving forward; Recommends updated capital structure to reflect realities in business operations; Raises portfolio wide recommendation to improve investment returns and strategic value, and rebalancing the portfolio, as needed; For divestiture, prepares the financial analysis vis-à-vis the portfolio and proposes the acceptable selling price, and executes the divestment, including hiring and managing of advisors and sale process

Support to the NBD team in all facets of the transaction in bringing the project to desired outcome
Complements the NBD team in ensuring the project will be brought to the desired outcome as mandated by management

Advice to finance managers as to periodic impairment testing and loan applications of business units
Provides advice to the finance managers in their discussions with respect to impairment testing with the auditor and loan applications with the lender/s
Other Responsibilities
Performs other related functions inherent in team operation, acts as corporate resource and performs other tasks assigned by management
 

Education

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Economics
Bachelor of Science in Accountancy or Other Related Courses
